Non-VIN Procede Integration
As a service provider, I regularly encounter a wide variety of asset types. It is essential that I can manage a Decisiv case regardless of asset type. To do so, some enhancements have been made to our Integration Schema to submit a Vehicle Identification Number for either Vin or Serial-based assets.
Setup
Users with Administrative Permissions can enable this feature. To do so, navigate to the Location Information page under Customize Your Database in the Admin Section.
Then click the Location Information page.
Click the second tab labeled External Interfaces, scroll the screen down to the DMS Optional settings section, and Enable the Non-Vin RO export feature.
Scroll down to the DMS Optional Settings section and Enable the Non-Vin RO export feature.
Once finished, click the Save External Interface button.
When enabled, this will transmit serial-based assets to your DMS in the VIN field during the Case export process.
Workflow
As non-vin-based assets are received by the Service Provider, they can search for and add them to the Case; if they do not exist, they can be created under the Customer Record.
To add a new Customer Record, Search for the Customer.
Click on the Customer Name, then the Add Asset button in the right corner.
Choose the Asset Type, Refer, or APU and populate the Asset information.
Click Create to establish the asset profile and then create your Case.
The VIN field will be blank; however, the Serial Number can be found on the left Navigation Bar.
Technical Specifications
When the Case is Exported to the RO, the Serial Number, specifically the VIN and serial fields, will be provided in the XML packet.
When the DMS partner receives this value, they will look for an existing match or create a new asset based on the information provided during the export process.
