Senior Technician
Introduced to the platform on 10 Jan 2024, Senior Technician is a new permission that expands upon the Technician permission.
The Senior Technician permission allows users to:
- Communicate externally (Fleet/local customers and their contacts) through the case's Notes section.
- Access the Quick Action Buttons (QABs) (Check-in, Request Approval, Asset Ready, Asset In-Service).
- Use the Select Tech Stories button on the Edit Operation page to replicate Story text in the Correction Description field
Technician
The Technician permission allows users to:
- Create and manage cases, assets, contacts, and customers.
- Manage service requests.
- Send and receive internal notes.
- Use the calendar.
Technicians cannot send external notes, which prevents external users from sending Technicians notes as well. Fleet/local customers and their contacts will not see Technician notes as these are internal only.
Users with only the Technician permission also have the Discoverability setting "Hide from External users (Customer, Bill To, or Ship To contacts) in the recipients lists" enabled.
Differences between Senior Technician and Technician
- Senior Technicians can send notes to fleet/local customers and their contacts, Technicians cannot.
- Senior Technicians can access the QABs, Technicians cannot.
- Senior Technicians can use the Select Tech Stories button on the Edit Operation page to replicate Story text in the Correction Description field, Technicians cannot.
- Senior Technicians do not have the Discoverability setting to be hidden from external users enabled by default, Technicians do.
- Both can be assigned operations.
