Overview
VMRS Reason for Repair code key 14 describes the reason for work being performed on an asset, such as a breakdown, accident, or preventive maintenance.
Here are some examples of Reason for Repair codes:
01: Breakdown
22: Conversion
37: Vandalism
38: Warranty
53: Goodwill - Manufacturer
VMRS codes enhance communication and make tracking the maintenance process for each part or asset easier. They also standardize maintenance documentation within a company and between different organizations.

Warranty & Goodwill-Manufacturer: Operation Implications
Two of the Reason for Repair options, Warranty and Goodwill-Manufacturer, have additional features. When one of these options is chosen for an operation,
Above the New Operations Table, there are Bulk Actions. When you select an operation(s) in the table using the select box, it will enable these Bulk Actions. If not disabled, clicking SET REASON FOR REPAIR TO will display a short list of options to choose from.
*All VMRS Code Key 14 Reasons for Repair will still be available for selection in VMRS Code section of the Editing Case Details Case Info (VMRS) Tab and the Edit Operation page unless disabled. | |
When Reason for Repair "Warranty" or "Goodwill-Manufacturer" are selected, an icon will be displayed in the info column. The total for the operation will be removed from the table row, the overall estimate total, as well as the PDF of the estimate. | |
A label will be displayed on the PDF estimate for each operation with the respective Reason for Repair. | |
If applicable, when Reason for Repair "Warranty" or "Goodwill-Manufacturer" are selected for one or more operations will allow for exporting to a warranty system or the RO as an operation covered by warranty. | Screenshot Coming Soon! |
Administration
Administrators have the ability to limit the "Reason for Repair" options available at their location. To access this administrative page, click Admin at the top right of the All Cases page.
Once on the Administrative Tools page click Customize Your Database
Under the Dealership Profile section click Reason for Repair | |
Once on the Reason for Repair administration page you will need to select the Enable checkbox to enable the ability to limit the Reason for Repair options for this location. | |
The list of Reasons for Repair will be displayed in a table below, with all options initially set to Allowed. | |
Scroll down the page and you will see "Warranty" & "Goodwill-Manufacturer". | |
When you uncheck an option and click the "SAVE CHANGES" button, a confirmation banner will appear and update the available Reason for Repair options for cases at this location.
Furthermore, unchecking "Warranty" and/or "Goodwill-Manufacturer" will also remove those options from the Bulk Action "SET REASON FOR REPAIR TO" options. |
